New Zealand - Ferry Ride to the South Island

Early in the morning of our third day

in New Zealand

 we drove our rental van

 to the dock of Wellington

 and right up on to the lower deck of the ferry

bound for the south island of New Zealand.

 What a CRAZY concept -

driving your car on a boat!

We left our car on the lower deck and spent the ride

enjoying comfortable seats on the 

3rd floor

 and BEAUTIFUL (but windy)

views from the top deck.

 After a one and a half hour ferry ride

we returned to our car.

 It was amazing to see the parking 

arrangement on the lower deck.

We drove off the boat 

 and made the four and a half 

drive to Nelson.

 It was a long (and wind-y)

ride

 but the views were beautiful.
