SNOW in North Georgia!

It snowed today while we were in church. We came out to a parking lot covered in white. The ride home was beautiful with a dusting of powder on trees and grass. Unfortunately by the time we got home, only a 5 mile drive, the snow had soaked in to the wet left from morning rain.
It was BEAUTIFUL while it lasted.
The kids are hoping for no school tomorrow. We'll see!

March Mantel

After many requests from Fred "When do I get a turn to do the mantel?". I decided to let him participate. The THEME - Are you a TEAM player -
in honor of March Madness basketball.
I was willing to sacrifice our regularly scheduled March mantel,
"When you think you're LUCKY count your blessings", for the team.
No worries, the regularly scheduled mantel has been
moved to the sideboard.

Our focus, as a family,this month is to make sure
we are each doing our part.
No one player should carry the load of the team alone.
We will discuss: knowing your team mates, cheering each other on, and
understanding home maintenance responsibilities.

I really loved this sign and the meaning, to me, behind the saying. Everything I do throughout my day, and my life, is because I LOVE someone. I clean Chewy's cage for Haleigh - because I love her. I volunteer in Ammon's class - because I love him. I drive Caleb to and from school - because I love him and I want to be with him as much as possible. I buy granola bars at the store - because I love Fred and know he likes to have them to eat at work. I say my prayers - because I love my Heavenly Father and I know He loves me. Simple things, sometimes mundain things, but oh so important.

Each time I read this sign I think "I hope my life truly does have those three words, I love you, in them." LOVE what I do, LOVE who I'm with, LOVE living life!

"I am so sorry you do not like cheese!"

Yesterday was one of those CRAZY "MOM" days. A day FULL of laundry, cleaning and organizing. When school let out, the REAL craziness began. -Pick Ammon up from school - Take Ammon to Piano - Pick Caleb up from school - Pick up Ammon from Piano - Make sure homework is done - Make sure piano gets practiced by each child - Make dinner (have picnic on family room floor because the kitchen table is piled with clean folded laundry) - Put laundry away(so we can use the table for breakfast in the morning) - Call on car we want to buy (another story in itself) - Make sure Fred gets medicine (he's sick and won't take ibuprofen unless I give it to him. I've heard it's a guy thing.) - Pick up Haleigh from Wizard of Oz dress rehearsal - Pick up takes longer than expected and we are going to be LATE for Haleigh's Piano Performance Class! THIS IS WHERE MY STORY BEGINS.

I call home to see if Fred can meet us at Haleigh's piano class to bring her music book. By this time of day I had been functioning in "task" mode and was not in the mood for "fun" or jokes. When the voice on the other end of the phone answers in a heavy Arabic accent "Papa Johns Pizza, may I please take your order." Instantly I recognized the voice as my HILARIOUS 12 year old son's. I was not amused, "Caleb, get your dad. I need to talk to him." Caleb, sounding like Habib from Arabia "Would you like cheese on that, Mam?" I'm getting frustrated, "Caleb, I don't have time for this." Not missing a beat Caleb says, still in "Habib" character, "I am so sorry you do not like cheese!" With that he was gone to get Fred on the phone.

The humor of my son did not hit me until today. What made me a bit frustrated yesterday is making me LAUGH MY HEAD OFF today!! THANK YOU Caleb, you crazy, CRAZY boy!

It is difficult to believe January 2009 is almost over. My goal for this year is to live life in the NOW! I have learned to appreciate the saying "The present is a gift".
