Jumbo Floating Restaurant

Friday night I met Fred at the

Star Ferry after work.

From there we jumped in a taxi

and headed for
OUR DATE
at

the Jumbo Floating Restaurant.

The only way to access the 

restaurant is by boat.

(How ROMANTIC!)

On the menu

Bird's Nest Soup  - a very expensive
Chinese delicacy.

One bowl was priced at 

$780HK  -  $100US.

It is made of

the nests of a swiftlet
soaked in chicken broth.

Instead of twigs and weeds

the swiftlet uses it's own gummy saliva 

to create the nest.

When we were in Thailand
we saw the spot where the nests
are harvested.

We DID NOT eat
Bird's Nest Soup.
Not only because of the
high price tag,
MOSTLY because of the
bird saliva
GAG FACTOR.

It's definitely not your typical 

American Chinese Restaurant
