JUNK (Boat) Trip

We, with a few other families,
rented a JUNK for a day.

We boarded ship at 9 a.m.

at Wan Chai pier.

After an hour ride

we put down anchor 

just off Lamma Island.

It was the perfect spot to 

ENJOY the water!

Some enjoyed more than others.

As we were pulling up anchor

a Chinese fishing couple

came sailing by.

I was relieved to see

their nets had very few,

and TINY, fish.

(I had been worried about

what had been swimming below me.)

We requested our ride home go

through the Aberdeen Canal.

Aberdeen harbour is home to hundreds of people living on fishing junks. Their traditional lifestyle is dramatically juxtaposed against a modern high-rise community spread over the nearby hillsides.

It was AMAZING to see tiny

make shift wooden junks

in the same harbor as

multi-million dollar yachts.

JUMBO - a floating restaurant.

The only way to access the restaurant

is by boat.

Back to port at

5 p.m.

What an FUN and AMAZING day!
