Hong Luo Si - Red Snail Temple

Beijing has MANY beautiful and
VERY famous Temples.
The Hong Luo Temple is
not well known to tourists.
It was well worth the trip.

The temple dates back to 348 A.D.
(AMAZING!)
It is believed that the Emperors two daughters
became red snails and lived in the pools
to protect the temple located on the hill.

The grounds of the temple have
 beautiful pools

and winding paths.

Hong Luo is an active Temple where
Buddhist's come to worship.
The red bows each represent a prayer.
When the wind blows the ribbon
another prayer is sent to heaven.

This is the garden of the 500 Arnats -
followers of Buddha.

Each statue is unique
and the plaque lists the qualities
that made them a follower of Buddha.

Dressed in the red robes, it felt that, at any
moment, they would stand up and walk away.

It was a BEAUTIFUL visit!
